Silver Schmidt OS 8200 – digital concrete test hammer from Screening Eagle
The Silver Schmidt OS 8200 from Screening Eagle, formerly Proceq, is a digital concrete test hammer designed for the rapid estimation of concrete compressive strength and the assessment of concrete uniformity. It is the successor to the tried-and-tested Silver Schmidt PC concrete test hammer. The optical measurement technology, angle-independent testing and convenient documentation via an app make it a powerful tool for surveyors, engineering firms, testing institutes and quality assurance departments.Precise concrete testing with digital evaluation
The Silver Schmidt OS 8200 combines Proceq’s tried-and-tested testing technology with Screening Eagle’s digital workflow. The device uses optical detection of the rebound velocity ratio, thereby enabling precise measurement that is independent of the impact angle. The measured values are displayed directly on the backlit display and stored in the device, as well as directly in the app on the smartphone. There, the measured values can be further processed in the Original Schmidt Live app.
Measure, document and create reports
The app supports the entire testing process. Measurement series can be supplemented with location data, photos, voice recordings and text notes. This ensures that test points and measurement results remain clearly traceable, even in large-scale projects.Individual measurement series and complete test areas can be exported as PDF or CSV reports. In addition, analyses of uniformity and reports on characteristic strength in accordance with EN 13791 are available. Cloud synchronisation enables access to stored data from different workstations.
Standard-compliant analysis
The Silver Schmidt OS 8200 supports various international testing standards and calculation methods:- EN 12504-2
- ASTM C805
- JGJ-T23
- JSCE G504
- JIS A1155
- Calculation of the arithmetic mean
Efficient on site
According to the manufacturer, a complete test area can be assessed in less than ten minutes, depending on the specific test task. The concrete test hammer thus offers a quick way to examine larger concrete surfaces and to identify areas requiring further testing or targeted core sampling.Eigenschaften:

Differences between the Screening Eagle (Proceq) OS-8000 and OS-8200
The key difference: the OS-8000 is a traditional R-value hammer with digital analysis, whilst the OS-8200 determines the Q-value optically. The app and documentation functions, on the other hand, are largely identical.| Feature | Original Schmidt OS8000 | Silver Schmidt OS8200 |
| Product family | Original Schmidt | Silver Schmidt |
| Measured value | Classic rebound value R | Optically determined rebound value Q |
| Measuring principle | Mechanical measurement of rebound with digital recording | Optical measurement of the ratio of impact to rebound velocity |
| Effect of impact angle | Generally angle-dependent; automatic angle correction by the device | Intrinsically angle-independent; no correction required |
| Measurement accuracy | Tried-and-tested R-value technology with automatic evaluation | Greater measurement reliability and reduced angle dependence thanks to optical Q-value technology |
| Display | Mechanical rebound scale plus illuminated digital display | Backlit digital display |
| Use without a battery | Analogue reading still possible | Electronic display and data logging require a battery |
| Typical strength range | Approximately 10 to over 100 N/mm², depending on the model and conversion curve | Normal and high-strength concrete 10–100 MPa; Type N for UHPC up to 120 MPa |
| Low early strengths | Mushroom-head plungers cannot be used | Type L with optional mushroom-head striker from approx. 5 MPa |
| Models | Type N and Type L, as well as print versions | Type N and Type L as well as print versions |
| Impact energy Type N | 2.207 Nm | 2.207 Nm |
| Impact energy Type L | 0.735 Nm | 0.735 Nm |
| Internal memory | More than 20,000 individual impacts | Approx. 20,000 individual impacts |
| Bluetooth and app | Yes | Yes |
| Reports | PDF, CSV, test ranges, uniformity and EN 13791 | PDF, CSV, test ranges, uniformity and EN 13791 |
| Documentation | Photos, language, text and geolocation via the app | Photos, voice, text and geolocation via the app |
| Test standards | EN 12504-2, ASTM C805, JGJ-T23, JSCE and JIS | EN 12504-2, ASTM C805, JGJ-T23, JSCE and JIS |
| Power supply | Replaceable AAA battery or rechargeable AAA battery | Replaceable AAA battery or rechargeable AAA battery |
| Test anvil | Special anvil required for OS8000 | Special anvil required for the OS8200; not identical to the OS8000 anvil |
| Main advantage | Direct comparability with traditional Schmidt R-values and analogue fallback level | More advanced measurement technology, true angle independence and a wider range of applications |
In short: the OS8200 is not simply a newer version of the OS8000. Both feature memory, Bluetooth, an app and reporting functions. The key added value of the Silver Schmidt OS8200 lies in its optical Q-value measurement, true angle-independence and extended range of application. The Original Schmidt OS8000 is particularly useful when traditional R-values and the additional mechanical scale are required.
