GANN Hydromette BL Compact B 3 – NEW, # 30012033

The GANN Hydromette BL Compact B 3 is the successor to the tried-and-tested BL Compact B 2 and is designed for non-destructive moisture measurement in building materials. This compact measuring instrument operates on the principle of dielectric constant/high-frequency measurement. The spherical probe allows moisture distributions in walls, ceilings and floors to be quickly assessed and suspicious areas to be pinpointed.  

This makes the BL Compact B 3 particularly suitable for building surveyors, assessors, tradespeople and users who wish to investigate moisture distributions in building materials or carry out comparative measurements.

The key new features of the BL Compact B 3:

Compared to the BL Compact B 2, the new generation has been further developed in several areas. These include a high-contrast 1.54-inch OLED display, a new 32-bit microcontroller, an integrated temperature sensor for temperature compensation, and enhanced memory and data transfer functions.

Of particular interest for documentation purposes is the new batch measurement function: five batches are available, each of which can store up to 50 measured values. In addition, during normal basic measurement, the last ten measured values are stored in a circular buffer.

Stored measured values can be transferred to a PC via the mini-USB interface and processed further using the GANN Dialog Pro software. Firmware updates are also possible via this connection.
Measurement principle

Non-destructive building moisture measurement is based on determining electrical capacitance as a function of the dielectric constant of the material being tested. In the process, an electrical measurement field is formed between the spherical probe and the substrate. Changes to this field caused by material properties and moisture are detected by the device and displayed as a measured value.  

In scan mode, the display ranges from 0 to 200 digits. Additional material characteristics are available for various single-type building materials, allowing values to be displayed in % by weight or % CM.

Available material characteristics include, amongst others:

•     Cement screed
•     Anhydrite screed
•     Concrete
•     Cement mortar
•     Lime mortar
•     Lime-cement mortar
•     Gypsum plaster

Depending on the selected material ID, the reading is displayed in % by weight or % by volume.
Three measurement functions for different tasks

The BL Compact B 3 features basic measurement, average measurement and batch measurement.

In basic measurement mode, the last ten readings are automatically saved. Average measurement allows up to five readings to be recorded and immediately calculates an average value from them. This is useful, for example, for reference and comparative measurements.

Batch measurement enables structured data recording: five batches, each with up to 50 measurements, can be stored in the device.
Adjustable limit values with alarm function

Individual limit values can be set for material moisture content. If a specified value is exceeded, the Hydromette emits an audible warning signal and also displays a corresponding message on the screen.
Easy-to-read OLED display

The new OLED display shows measurement values with high contrast. Three brightness levels allow adjustment to different lighting conditions. The menu navigation is available in German, English, Italian, French and Spanish.
