Protimeter ReachMaster Pro: Non-destructive moisture detection with a telescopic handle and high measurement depth
The Protimeter ReachMaster Pro BLD5777 is a professional moisture detector designed for the non-destructive inspection of floors, walls, ceilings and other building components. Its extendable telescopic handle allows both large areas and hard-to-reach areas to be inspected quickly and conveniently. The sensor head is simply guided across the surface – without inserting electrodes and without damaging the structure. Suspicious damp areas can thus be quickly localised and subsequently investigated in more detail.
A distinctive feature of the ReachMaster Pro is its great detection depth. Depending on the material, signs of damp can be detected to a depth of approximately 12 cm. This makes the device particularly suitable for rapid preliminary inspections and for pinpointing areas of moisture within larger component surfaces.
Capacitive-dielectric measurement method
The ReachMaster Pro operates on the basis of a non-invasive capacitive-dielectric measurement principle. The sensor head generates an electrical measurement field that penetrates the material being inspected. Changes in the material’s dielectric properties are detected and used to localise moisture. As water has different dielectric properties to dry building materials, differences within a component can be detected and areas of moisture can be localised by comparison.
The measurement results are displayed on a relative scale from 60 to 999. It is therefore not a direct indication of moisture content in per cent. The measurement is particularly informative when dry reference areas are compared with areas of the component showing abnormalities. These values are similar to the ‘digits’ as indicated, for example, by Gann, but are not directly comparable.
Quickly locate damp areas
When diagnosing damage, it is often crucial to first establish where the moisture is located and how far the affected area extends. The ReachMaster Pro is ideally suited for precisely this purpose. Larger areas can be systematically scanned. Changes in the measured value are displayed immediately, enabling rapid identification of areas of concern.
The sensitivity of the device can be adjusted to suit the specific measurement task. This allows an anomaly initially detected to be narrowed down further.
The colour display also aids quick orientation by categorising the readings into green, yellow and red zones. An audible alarm facilitates the continuous scanning of an area.
Convenient floor measurement whilst standing
A key advantage of the Protimeter ReachMaster Pro is its extendable telescopic handle. Particularly when inspecting larger floor areas, the sensor head can be comfortably guided across the floor whilst standing. This significantly reduces the need to kneel or work in a crouched position frequently. At the same time, the telescopic handle facilitates measurements on higher wall sections and ceilings. The sensor head and display communicate wirelessly with each other, so no intrusive connection cable is required along the telescopic handle.
Ideal for experts, surveyors and property managers
The ReachMaster Pro is particularly well-suited to the rapid inspection of larger areas as part of moisture and damage diagnostics. Suspicious areas can first be located non-destructively and then, if necessary, examined in greater detail using supplementary measurement methods.Typical users and areas of application include:
- Building surveyors and valuers
- Leak detection specialists
- Building diagnosticians
- Building drying and restoration companies
- Floor fitters
- Claims adjusters
- Investigation of water and damp damage
- Inspection of floors, walls and ceilings
- Inspections of external thermal insulation composite systems (ETICS)
- Leak detection on suitable roof structures
- Inspection of GRP boat hulls
All advantages at a glance:
Non-destructive moisture detectionNo measurement probes, drilling or damage to the surface required.
High penetration depth
Measurement depth depending on the material, ranging from at least 7 cm up to approx. 12 cm.
Rapid surface inspection
Ideal for systematically scanning larger areas and pinpointing damp zones.
Capacitive-dielectric measurement principle
Moisture is localised based on changes in the dielectric properties of the material being examined.
Telescopic handle
Comfortable floor measurements whilst standing, as well as easier access to walls and ceilings.
Relative comparative measurement
Measuring range from 60 to 999 for rapid assessment of changes within a building component.
Adjustable sensitivity
Supports targeted searches and further narrowing down of areas of concern.
Colour display and audible alarm
Quick orientation during surface inspection.

Note on the measurement method
The Protimeter ReachMaster Pro is a moisture detection and comparative measurement device. The values displayed do not represent the absolute moisture content of the material as a percentage.
The device is particularly suitable for localising and carrying out a comparative assessment of areas of moisture. As with other dielectric measurement methods, factors other than moisture – such as material properties, metals or elevated salt concentrations – may also influence the measurement result. Areas of concern can therefore be checked using a supplementary measurement method if necessary.
